Esports World Cup 2026 CS2 Predictions

The Counter-Strike 2 tournament at the 2026 Esports World Cup takes place in Paris from August 12 to 23, bringing together 32 teams for a $2 million prize pool.

The field is split into four eight-team groups, with the opening matches played as best-of-one and the rest of the group stage switching to best-of-three.

Four teams from each group advance to the 16-team single-elimination playoffs.

That format creates a useful split between the betting markets.

The opening BO1s increase the possibility of an upset, while the futures markets still demand sustained performance once the tournament moves deeper into best-of-three series.

MOUZ arrive in Paris immediately after winning BLAST Bounty Season 2 Finals.

They defeated Spirit 3-1 in the grand final after coming through earlier LAN series against 3DMAX and Astralis.

Spinx was the standout player against Spirit with a 1.54 rating across the four maps and received the first HLTV MVP award of his career.

The timing of that title makes it especially relevant.

PR joined from GamerLegion on July 14, and BLAST Bounty was his first tournament with the new lineup.

MOUZ went through the online portion without dropping a map before carrying that run into the LAN finals.

They enter EWC ranked fifth by HLTV and fourth in VRS.

Group C also contains Vitality, FUT, B8, PARIVISION, TYLOO, Lynn Vision and 100 Thieves, but MOUZ do not need to win the group. Four of the eight teams advance, and only the opening round is BO1.

There is no shortcut once the playoffs begin.

Reaching the final requires MOUZ to qualify from Group C and then win three consecutive BO3 series: the round of 16, quarter-final and semi-final.

The single-elimination format removes the safety net available during the group stage.

The recent title does not make MOUZ invulnerable either. They dropped Dust2 to 3DMAX in the BLAST Bounty quarter-final and Ancient to Astralis in the semi-final before recovering to win both series.

Those matches are a better warning against overconfidence than simply assuming their latest trophy will carry over to Paris.

The market does not require MOUZ to win EWC.

It removes the final itself from the equation, and the current lineup has already shown it can survive difficult series and beat Spirit over a BO5.

At 7.00, MOUZ to reach the final offers a stronger balance between price and recent evidence than backing them to win the tournament outright.

Falcons enter the tournament as the current HLTV world number one and number two in VRS.

More importantly, that ranking is backed by the biggest result of the summer: victory at the IEM Cologne Major.

Their playoff run included a 2-1 quarter-final victory over Vitality and another 2-1 win against Spirit in the semi-final before Falcons swept FURIA 3-0 in the grand final. m0NESY finished the Major with a 1.25 rating and received the MVP award.

That gives the outright prediction a much stronger base than ranking alone.

The current five of karrigan, NiKo, TeSeS, m0NESY and kyousuke have already completed a full Major run against elite opposition and won the title.

There is also a very recent reason for caution. In their first BLAST Bounty match after Cologne, Falcons lost 2-1 to 100 Thieves. The defeat was particularly notable because Falcons led the deciding Anubis 9-3 at halftime before losing 13-11.

Group B is not empty of threats either.

Falcons share it with Legacy, BetBoom, Astralis, MIBR, FaZe, Ninjas in Pyjamas and K27, with K27 waiting in their BO1 opener. Once again, the first map carries more variance than a full series.

That prevents Falcons from being treated as an automatic winner, but it does not erase what happened in Cologne.

At 4.00, the outright is supported by a current number-one ranking, the Major trophy and a roster that has already beaten Vitality, Spirit and FURIA in consecutive playoff rounds.

The MongolZ enter the opening match ranked 13th by HLTV and 15th in VRS, while magic sit 22nd and 25th. The ranking gap is meaningful, although the Mongolian side are still working with a recently changed lineup.

tikuak and DarkMeister joined in July, and the new five have only a small number of official maps together. Their first tournament provided a positive start: The MongolZ beat Wildcard 2-0 to qualify for the BLAST Bounty LAN Finals.

Their quarter-final in Malta also offered useful evidence despite ending in defeat. The MongolZ took FaZe to three maps and won Mirage 13-7.

On Nuke they led 10-2 at halftime before FaZe recovered, forced overtime and eventually won 16-12. Ancient then went 13-8 to FaZe.

That is a stronger performance than the 2-1 scoreline alone suggests, but the limited sample with the new roster still matters. There is not enough evidence to treat this version of The MongolZ as identical to the team that produced results earlier in the season.

One of those earlier results was a 2-0 victory over magic at PGL Astana.

It is relevant as evidence that the established MongolZ core has faced this opponent before, but two members of the current lineup were not involved, so the result should remain a secondary argument.

The largest risk is the format. This is a BO1, where one unfavourable veto, poor pistol-round conversion or short run of economic problems can decide the match before the stronger team has time to adjust.

The MongolZ still have the higher-ranked lineup and have already shown encouraging signs since the July changes.

At 1.62, The MongolZ to win offers a more reasonable price than several of the heavily favoured teams on the opening slate.

Esports CS2 World Cup 2026 Preview Recommended

FUT enter EWC ranked 17th by HLTV and 14th in VRS, compared with TYLOO at 23rd and 21st. Their current lineup consists of xfl0ud, dem0N, Krabeni, cmtry and Džiugas “dziugss” Steponavičius.

There is also an unusually relevant head-to-head result. FUT and TYLOO met in a BO1 on LAN during the Cologne Major Stage 2 in June, with Overpass surviving the veto. FUT won 13-9.

That comparison is more useful than an older series played in a different format because the EWC opener creates almost the same basic problem: one map, no room to recover after a bad start.

FUT are not arriving in perfect form. Their BLAST Bounty campaign ended with a 0-2 loss to 3DMAX, who won Dust2 13-11 and Ancient 13-9 to deny FUT a place at the LAN Finals.

TYLOO also have direct evidence that they can punish favourites in a BO1. At the Cologne Major they beat Astralis 13-6 on Nuke.

That result alone is enough reason not to treat the previous FUT win as a guarantee of another one.

The difference is that FUT have the stronger overall ranking and already won this exact matchup under a recent BO1 LAN format.

At 1.72, the price leaves enough room for the volatility of a single map without requiring FUT to be treated as an overwhelming favourite.

This is the highest-risk prediction in this Esports World Cup 2026 CS2 Predictions article.

Vitality remain the much stronger team on paper.

They enter EWC ranked fourth by HLTV and fifth in VRS, while 100 Thieves are 32nd and 31st. Vitality also retain a lineup featuring ZywOo, ropz, flameZ, mezii and apEX.

The case for 100 Thieves is based on the price, recent form and the BO1 format rather than an argument that they are the better team.

They qualified for the main event on August 9 by beating 1win 2-0 in the decisive series.

Gizmy led the team across the qualifier with a 1.44 rating, giving 100 Thieves competitive LAN preparation immediately before the group stage begins.

Their ceiling against elite opposition has already been tested.

On July 22, 100 Thieves eliminated Falcons 2-1 from BLAST Bounty. After losing Nuke 4-13, they won Dust2 13-7 and came back from a 3-9 halftime deficit on Anubis to take the decider 13-11.

Vitality, meanwhile, are going through their weakest stretch of the year.

After winning five events in succession earlier in 2026, they have now gone three tournaments without a top-four finish.

Their most recent BLAST Bounty appearance ended immediately with a 0-2 defeat to a newly rebuilt Liquid lineup.

Their VRS position also dropped to fifth in the August update. That does not make Vitality a weak team, but it adds another sign that their current level is below the dominant run seen earlier in the season.

The format is what makes 4.40 more interesting.

Vitality vs 100 Thieves is a single-map match.

Over a BO3, Vitality would have more opportunities for their map pool and individual quality to take over.

In a BO1, one strong CT half or a favourable veto can be enough to produce an upset.

Vitality should still win this match more often than not.

ZywOo and ropz alone give them a level of individual firepower that 100 Thieves cannot consistently match, and one recent upset against Falcons does not erase the large gap between the teams.

That is why 100 Thieves to win @4.40 belongs firmly in the high-risk category.

The price is attractive because 100 Thieves arrive directly from a successful LAN qualifier, have already beaten the current world number one this summer, and get the higher-variance BO1 format against a Vitality side whose results have cooled significantly.
