Esports World Cup 2026 Grand Final Prediction: FUT vs Spirit (23-08-2026)

FUT and Spirit meet in the best-of-five grand final of the 2026 Esports World Cup on August 23.

Spirit enter as the higher-ranked team and have looked increasingly convincing as the tournament has progressed.

FUT, however, have produced the biggest run of their young roster’s career, beating MOUZ and FURIA on the way to their first Big Event grand final. This will also be the first meeting between the two teams.

FUT arrive in the final on a five-match winning streak, and the level of opposition during that run makes the handicap difficult to ignore.

They have beaten MOUZ twice in the space of little more than a week. The first series went three maps, with FUT winning Ancient 13-6 and Mirage 13-11.

They were even better in the Esports World Cup quarter-final, taking MOUZ’s Dust2 pick 16-13 after overtime before dominating Ancient 13-5 to complete a 2-0 victory.

The semi-final against FURIA provided another test. FUT took Ancient 13-11, were comfortably beaten 13-6 on Nuke and then recovered from several difficult positions on Dust2 to win the decider 16-13 in overtime.

That result sent them into the final after three consecutive playoff series in which they have shown they can handle pressure against stronger-ranked opposition.

Spirit deserve to be favourites. They are ranked second in the world and have also won five consecutive matches, including playoff victories over B8, Vitality and Legacy.

Their semi-final was particularly controlled, with Legacy beaten 13-7 on Dust2 and 13-9 on Ancient.

They have not been untouchable throughout the run, though.

Vitality pushed Spirit to three maps in the quarter-final and won Nuke 16-14 after overtime before Spirit closed the series with a dominant 13-3 victory on Mirage. Earlier in the tournament, BIG also took a map from them.

A best-of-five format gives FUT more opportunities to reach the two map wins required for this handicap.

Their recent numbers are strongest on Ancient, where the current core has won 82% of 11 maps, while they also sit at 75% on Mirage and 100% across a smaller three-map Anubis sample.

Spirit are strong on all three as well, but FUT have already backed those figures up against elite opposition during this event.

Spirit hold clearer statistical advantages on Dust2 and Nuke, and donk remains the most dangerous individual player in the server.

His 1.44 rating and 94.7 average damage over the past three months underline the level FUT will have to deal with. The handicap does not require them to outperform Spirit across the entire series, however.

FUT have already taken multiple maps from MOUZ and FURIA under playoff pressure and have enough depth in their preferred maps to make a one-sided final far from certain.
