CS2 BLAST Open Porto 2026 Preview

BLAST Open Porto 2026 is an S-Tier Counter-Strike 2 tournament that will take place from August 26 to September 6. The group stage will be played at the BLAST studio in Copenhagen, while the playoffs will move to Porto, Portugal.

A total of 16 teams will compete, and the tournament prize pool is $1,100,000. Falcons, Spirit, Vitality and FURIA are the main favorites, but FUT, 9z and G2 could surprise in the tournament.

BLAST Open Porto 2026 uses the classic BLAST Premier format. A total of 16 teams will play, split into two groups. Three teams from each group will advance to the playoffs. The first-place team goes directly to the semifinals, while the teams finishing second and third will play in the quarterfinals. 

In the group, esports teams can lose once, but a second loss means elimination from the tournament.

After the opening matches, four teams will drop to the Lower Bracket. After the Upper semi-finals, two more teams will drop to the Lower Bracket, and from these six teams, only one will advance to the playoffs by taking third place in the group.

Vitality will not play with its full lineup, as “mezii” is being replaced by “jL” for one tournament. Although Vitality has not shown its best game in the second half of the 2026 season, it is still a team that can win the title at any tournament.

There is no real stability in the CS2 scene at the moment, so BLAST Open 2026 should be another esports tournament where plenty of intrigue can be expected. 

MOUZ won the first tournament of the second half of the 2026 season, beating Spirit in the final. Spirit won EWC 2026, where it defeated FUT in the final. It can be said that Spirit has been the most consistent so far, as it reached the first two finals, but the game is not fully convincing and the team is still vulnerable.

FUT will play in Group B, which includes Vitality, Falcons and MOUZ. Legacy is also a solid first opponent, so qualifying for the playoffs will not be easy.

Still, Vitality will not play with its full lineup, Falcons is not yet showing the same level it had when it won the Major. MOUZ looks like a favorable opponent for FUT, so on a good day, FUT can beat any opponent in the group. 

Spirit comes to BLAST Open Porto 2026 after winning EWC 2026, and this is a great chance to extend a successful run. Usually, one dominant team emerges in the Counter-Strike 2 scene and at least reaches finals consistently.

In the second half of the season, Spirit has already played in two finals and has everything needed to play in another one. 

In the EWC 2026 group stage, the game was not convincing, but once the playoffs began, Spirit showed a high level.

On the way to the title, Spirit defeated Vitality, Legacy and FUT. Spirit will play in Group A, with the first match against DENDELE, while Aurora or G2 will be waiting in the semifinal. Both opponents are beatable, which means that after these two matches, Spirit would secure a place in the playoffs. 

To finish first in the group, Spirit would need to play against Natus Vincere, M80, FURIA or paiN. None of these teams looks unbeatable, so it is likely that Spirit can take first place, which would immediately secure a semifinal spot and leave just one match to reach the final. 

However, after winning EWC, the team could feel relaxed in the opening matches and suffer an unexpected loss. In the playoffs, Spirit should switch to a higher level, which is why we are choosing the team to reach the final.

Although BLAST Open Porto 2026 is an S-Tier Counter-Strike 2 tournament, it is not a top-priority event, which means not every team may show maximum motivation.

At this stage of the season, all teams want to win, and collecting VRS points for the upcoming PGL Singapore Major 2026 is also important, but not winning BLAST Open 2026 would not be a tragedy for any team. 

When a tournament is not of maximum importance, attention should be paid to teams waiting for their chance to stand out. In this case, FUT can be highlighted, as well as Legacy, which reached the EWC semifinal and later finished third.
