UEFA Champions League Prediction: Barcelona – Newcastle (18-03-2026)
Newcastle United doesn’t stop surprising the football community as they continue their 6 games unbeaten streak. However, this great run now is in jeopardy as they travel to Barcelona where the hosts this season have an incredible 92% winning record.
1st Leg
Despite being only 12th in the Premier League, Newcastle are showing that the UEFA Champions League is a different ball game. Last week they hosted one of the favourites of the competition Barcelona and gave them a really hard time.
The Magpies neutralized Barca’s feared attacking football and in the first half neither side was close to scoring. In the second half Newcastle started to attack more, but they found success in only 86th minute after J.Murphy’s cross found H.Barnes who put the ball into the left corner.

Unfortunately, the match was not over and the Spanish side started the final pressing which ended in M.Thiaw bringing down their player in the penalty box. The young superstar L.Yamal stepped up and converted it, saving his team from an upset.
What to Expect in the 2nd Leg?
Both teams have a busy schedule, but Newcastle will face a tougher competition as before this fixture they’ll play against Chelsea and later Sunderland in a big derby. Yet, this match won’t be ruled out from a priority list, but gives Barca a bigger luxury to rest their players.
Moreover, Barcelona has one of the best home records this year winning 20 games out of possible 21, including two impressive wins over Atletico Madrid 3-1 and 3-0 respectively. Sports bookmakers also know how strong Barca are at home, and with no decisive injuries, they should go further without needing to play more than 90 minutes.
