Several groups look far more competitive than the outright odds suggest.

While some favourites deserve their status, others face opponents they have already struggled against this season, creating a few interesting betting opportunities before the event begins.

VALORANT Esports World Cup 2026 Group B arguably contains the strongest collection of teams in the tournament, but Paper Rex still enter as the highest-ranked squad according to Riot’s official rankings.

The Pacific champions followed their regional title with another outstanding international run, reaching the Masters London final after victories over Leviatán, Team Vitality and EDward Gaming before narrowly losing 3-2 to Leviatán in the championship series.

Recent head-to-head results also support that pick.

Paper Rex have already faced NRG three times this season, winning two of those series, while they also eliminated Team Vitality 2-1 during the London playoffs.

With recent wins already recorded against both of their biggest competitors, Paper Rex rely on more than reputation entering this event.

At 2.20, they remain the strongest choice to finish on top of Group B.

G2 enter as the market favourite, but several recent results suggest Nongshim RedForce deserve much more attention.

Riot currently rank Nongshim as the world’s third-best team, ahead of G2 in eighth.

More importantly, they justified that ranking by winning Masters Santiago, where they defeated Gentle Mates, G2, NRG and Paper Rex during an exceptional playoff run, dropping just one map across four series.

They also carried strong form into the VALORANT Esports World Cup qualifiers, beating T1, Kiwoom DRX and Gen.G to secure their place in the tournament.

G2 remain a dangerous opponent after winning VCT Americas Stage 1, but their Masters London campaign ended with defeats to Xi Lai Gaming and FUT Esports.

Nongshim, meanwhile, already hold head-to-head victories over both G2 and Gentle Mates this season.

Considering those results, 3.25 looks generous for a team that has consistently delivered against the same opponents standing in its way once again.

VALORANT Esports World Cup Group D appears much closer than the odds initially suggest.

Riot’s rankings separate Team Heretics and MIBR by only two rating points, underlining how evenly matched the leading contenders are on paper.

Heretics earned their place among the favourites by winning VCT EMEA Stage 1, recovering from an early playoff defeat before putting together victories over BBL Esports, Fnatic, Eternal Fire, FUT Esports and Team Vitality to secure the title.

Their performance at Masters London was less convincing, where losses to Team Vitality and Leviatán resulted in an early exit.

Those results cannot be ignored when assessing the group.

That said, Heretics begin the tournament against All Gamers, a more favourable opening matchup than several of their direct rivals.

A victory there would likely set up a decisive showdown with either MIBR or Global Esports for first place.

There is very little separating the leading contenders, but Heretics still combine the strongest regional title with a relatively manageable path through the opening round, making 2.10 a reasonable price to top Group D.

None of these VALORANT Esports World Cup groups looks straightforward, but recent international form gives EDward Gaming, Paper Rex, Nongshim RedForce and Team Heretics a slight edge over the rest of the field.
