UEFA Champions League Prediction: Marseille – Newcastle United (25-11-2025)

Champions League surprise Newcastle United are looking to extend their winning streak to four. After 2 back to back home games this time they are travelling to France to face Marseille.

For Roberto De Zerbi’s men the things are not looking great as they currently sit in 25th position. Marseille started this year’s campaign with a tight loss against Real Madrid and later smashed Ajax at home 4:0.

On paper this was a great start and the opportunity to finish in the promotion place looked very realistic. But Les Olympiens fell against Sporting in Portugal at the end of the match suffering their first defeat 1-2.

A chance to get back on the winning track at home versus Atalanta was thrown away as Marseille failed to score and A. Samardzic 90 minute goal for the Italian side was the only one of the game.

However, OM should be really proud about their current run in the Ligue 1. They are the only team to beat reigning champions PSG and are only 2 points behind them while presently taking 2nd place.

Newcastle United so far are definitely overachievers in the biggest European competition. In the first round The Magpies were unable to challenge Barcelona and started the tournament with 1-2 loss.

Due to easier fixtures they quickly rose through ranks and now find themselves in 6th place.
Newcastle in the second round demolished Royal SG 0-4 and later won both home fixtures versus Athletic Bilbao and Benfica.

They kept 3 clean sheets in a row and have one of the best defenses in the Champions League with only 2 teams conceding less goals.

Marseille needs to start winning matches if they want to stay in the fight for the promotion spots, and many betting sites already expect them to press aggressively from the first minutes. This early pressure should make it difficult for Newcastle to keep another clean sheet, but it will also open space for counter-attacks.
