Upcoming Major Tennis Tournaments 2026

Monte-Carlo Masters, Madrid Open, Italian Open and the French Open are the next upcoming tennis tournaments.

As usual, the 2026 season began with the first Grand Slam, the Australian Open. Next tennis tournament French Open will take place at the end of May, Wimbledon will follow a month later, and the season will conclude with the US Open. In total, 9 ATP Masters 1000 tournaments and four Grand Slams will take place in 2026.

Here is the full schedule of the upcoming major tennis events.

The first major tennis tournament of 2026, the Australian Open, took place from January 18 – February 1. The last one will take place from November 15 – 22. As usual, 9 ATP Masters tournaments and 4 Grand Slams will be played this year. Here is the full major tennis tournaments calendar:

Miami Open is taking place from March 19 – 30 and is the second ATP Masters 1000 tournament of the 2026 season. Indian Wells Open took place from March 5 – 16 and was won by Jannik Sinner. Both tournaments were played on hard surface.

From April, the ATP Masters 1000 tournaments will move to Europe, where three clay surface tournaments will be held in France, Spain and Italy, while the second Grand Slam of the season will also be played.

The first ATP Masters 1000 tournament of the season played on clay surface will take place from April 6 – 13. 

The tournament was first held in 1896, and this year will mark the 119th edition. Last year, Carlos Alcaraz won the tournament for the first time in his career, while before that Stefanos Tsitsipas had won three of the previous four editions. 

Legendary Rafael Nadal won as many as 11 Monte-Carlo Masters titles from 2005 to 2018. 

The clay surface season will begin with this tournament, so it is worth paying attention to players who favor this tennis playing surface. Carlos Alcaraz clearly stands out, while Casper Ruud, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Arthur Fils are also worth mentioning.

Madrid Open will take place from April 22 – May 4. It is one of the newer ATP Masters 1000 tournaments. It was first held in 2002, and this year will be the 24th edition.

Rafael Nadal holds the record with five titles. Carlos Alcaraz won here in 2022 and 2023, and this year he will be considered the main favorite. 

Casper Ruud triumphed in 2025 and continues to produce solid results on clay. The 27-year-old Norwegian is worth watching both in this event and in other clay tournaments.

Italian Open will take place from May 7 – 18 and will be the final warm-up tournament before the second Grand Slam of the season. 

Italian Open was first held in 1930, and this year will be the 83th edition. 

From 2005 onwards, it was none other than Rafael Nadal who dominated here. The Spaniard won 10 titles by 2021, while Novak Djokovic claimed six titles. 

In 2025, Carlos Alcaraz won the tournament for the first time in his career after beating Jannik Sinner in the final.

French Open will take place from May 24 – June 7. It is the second Grand Slam tennis tournament of the season and the only one played on clay surface. At the same time, this tournament will mark the end of the clay surface stretch. 

French Open was first held in 1891, and it was added to the list of Grand Slam tournaments in 1925. 

From 2005, Rafael Nadal also showed his dominance on clay at this Grand Slam tournament, which he won as many as 14 times by 2022. 

Carlos Alcaraz has won the last two tournaments. Last year he defeated Jannik Sinner, and in 2024 Alexander Zverev.

It’s also worth checking out the dark horses at the French Open. This could lead to some winning bets.

A total of 14 major tennis tournaments will take place during the 2026 tennis season. 9 ATP Masters 1000, ATP Finals and 4 Grand Slams. 

One important thing to know about the tennis season is that the clay surface stretch takes place in spring, during which three ATP Masters 1000 tournaments and one Grand Slam are played. 

The other six ATP Masters 1000 tournaments are played on hard surface. Australian Open and US Open are also played on hard surface, while Wimbledon is played on grass.
