UEFA Champions League Prediction: Tottenham – Atletico Madrid (18-03-2026)

In February Igor Tudor took over the sinking ship, but the ship still keeps sinking as Tottenham are on the verge of being eliminated from the only competition they still have a shot for the trophy. Can a struggling team create a miracle in London or at least put up a decent fight?

Tottenham have a lot to fix from the first match especially in the goalkeeping area. I.Tudor started with a 22-year old A.Kinsky from Czech Republic in goal, which was his only 6th appearance of the season and it took Atletico the same amount of minutes to score the first goal.

D.Simeone’s men continued to play the high line and A.Griezmann scored the second for the Spanish team. Just one minute later A.Kinsky did another howler and the score in only the 15th minute was already 3-0.

The manager substituted the keeper with the regular starter Vicario, but Atleti continued to look better and score two more goals while Tottenham answered two times back. Julian Alvarez finished the game with a double and man of the match award.

Tottenham now can start questioning how the game would’ve finished if the starting squad selection was different. Despite scoring 5 times, Atleti finished the game with 2.59 xG while Spurs with fairly close 1.99 xG.

Looking at Tottenham’s season we are not believers in them getting at least 3 goals advantage. Yet, being greatly down, now they must attack from the starting minutes to at least try coming back.

In the past Atletico was known for their hard and strict defense, but the last few seasons proved otherwise.

Knowing Tottenham’s unfortunate position we can expect Atleti scoring at a minimum of one goal, which is also something many betting sites expect ahead of this match. They might be forced to rest their players and substitute them in the second half as only 4 days later they are playing Real Madrid in La Liga.
