UEFA Champions League Prediction: Sporting CP – Bodo/Glimt (17-03-2026)
The magic of Aspymara Stadium does not stop even in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals. Now Sporting needs a miracle, but in Portugal they always have a chance to beat anyone.
1st Leg
As expected, Bodo chose an attacking style at home and it turned out as a great deal for them again. In the 31st minute Sporting’s Vaggianidis missed the ball by kicking an opponents leg in the box which resulted in the penalty.
The always reliable S.Fet converted it from the spot, but Bodo’s chances did not stop there. In the added time O.Blomberg made the best of the cross and made the scoreline 2-0 just before the break.
Now Sporting CP needed to take over the game on Champions League and the Norwegian side needed only to defend the created lead. Yet, the Portuguese team did not create any significant chances and received a third blow in the 71st minute of the game after K.Hogh’s goal.

Despite both teams having a similar amount of shots on target (10 vs 9), Bodo once again showed just how effective they are. The team finished the game with 50% of their shots being on target and with an impressive xG of 2.78 compared to Sporting’s 0.61.
What to Expect in the 2nd Leg?
Both teams have their national league games postponed, so they have all week to prepare for the returning leg, which should guarantee us high quality of football. Moreover, we should be in for a threat as Sporting now needs to put on an early pressure in order to cancel the 3 goals advantage.
Naturally, this will open the chance for Bodo to counter attack and they are one of the best sides to do so. Despite having the 2 goals lead after the first fixture against Inter, they did not hold back on attacking and managed to get two goals in an away match.
We shouldn’t see them hiding in the trenches, and this should result in both teams scoring at least a goal. You can make a bet on it at online sports bookmakers.
