Max Verstappen endured an inconsistent start to the new regulations, but his Formula 1 results improved considerably heading into the summer break.

He finished second in Austria, retired at Silverstone, then took third in Belgium and second in Hungary. That is three podiums from his last four Grands Prix after managing only one across the opening seven rounds.

His record at Zandvoort provides another reason to back a top-three finish rather than a race win.

Verstappen won each of the first three Dutch Grands Prix following the event’s return to the calendar in 2021. He then finished second in both 2024 and 2025, giving him five podiums from five starts at the circuit.

The current Red Bull is not producing the same results as the cars behind those three Zandvoort victories.

The team are still without a Grand Prix win in 2026, while Verstappen sits sixth in the Drivers’ Championship with 109 points.

At 3.00, backing Verstappen for a podium captures his recent improvement without requiring Red Bull to produce their first Grand Prix victory of the season.

Kimi Antonelli has been the most successful driver of this Formula 1 season so far.

The Mercedes driver has won six of the opening 11 Grands Prix, reached the podium nine times and leads the Drivers’ Championship with 219 points. No other driver has more than two victories.

Antonelli has also taken six Grand Prix pole positions. That qualifying record is particularly relevant at Zandvoort, where securing track position can make the race considerably easier to manage.

His response to a difficult Silverstone weekend was also immediate. After finishing 15th in Britain, Antonelli returned to pole position and won the following race at Spa before taking third place in Hungary.

The main drawback at 2.90 is that this market depends entirely on one Mercedes driver.

Russell has already won twice this season, while Ferrari and McLaren won the two most recent races that Antonelli did not.

At 2.90, Antonelli remains the strongest outright driver selection despite the added risk of backing one side of the Mercedes garage.

George Russell has finished on the podium five times in 11 Grands Prix this season, including victories in Australia and Austria.

His best run came immediately before Belgium. Russell finished second at Barcelona-Catalunya, won in Austria and followed that result with another second place at Silverstone.

The final two Formula 1 races before the summer break were much less productive.

Contact with Lewis Hamilton eliminated him on the opening lap in Belgium, while he could manage only seventh in Hungary.

His recent Zandvoort record is also weaker than Verstappen’s.

Russell finished seventh in the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix before improving to fourth last year, leaving him without a podium from either race.

Those recent results put this selection behind the other three.

Russell’s broader 2026 form keeps a podium at 2.80 in consideration, but his results immediately before the break make it the weakest of the four picks.
