UEFA Champions League Prediction: Club Brugge – Atletico Madrid (18-02-2026)

Thanks to the late sprint Club Brugge remains the only side from Belgium  to qualify for the knock out stages this season. However, they are welcoming Atletico Madrid who are in tremendous shape lately.

At one point it looked like UEFA Champions League won’t see any Belgium sides making it past the league phase, but Club Brugge pulled out a late surprise and breaked into the top 24 in the final matchdays. Two games winning streak allowed them to finish nineteen, yet the draw was not too kind as now they are matched against pot 1 team.

Brugge had only 4 points after the 7th round and collected three important points against underdogs Kairat Almaty, beating them with confidence 4-1. The final round was crucial as they were paired versus Marseille, who already had 3 wins prior to the meeting. The Belgium side pulled off a surprise out of the hat, crushing the visitors 3-0.

Atleti would like to forget the final two fixtures of the competition as they went winless. D.Simeone’s men shared a point in Turkey against Galatasaray and were confident that all the business could be handled at home against Bodo/Glimt.

However, the Norwegian team created another miracle and beat the Spanish giants at their own homeground 2-1, leaving Atleti in only 14th place. A 4 wins, 1 draw and 3 losses record is not something that the Madrid side should be happy about and this match is a fresh start.

Club Brugge’s late success was thanks to easier fixtures at the end and D.Simeone’s men are favourites to win this one. With this being a two legs match we are expecting Atleti to show more pride in their defence as they have conceded more goals in the competition than projected. With a new attack who so far shows a lot of promise it is hard to see Brugge pulling off a miracle.
