2022 is an important year for football fans and bettors. It is a World Cup year, but a unique one. The highly-anticipated competition will take place in Qatar, the Middle East.

Following the announcement of the World Cup group draws, fans and bettors now know the teams that will face each other.

In total, 32 national teams will compete for football’s ultimate prize. There’re eight FIFA World Cup groups in the competition, with four teams in each.

In each group, the top 2 teams proceed to the round of 16, while the bottom two are eliminated. Each day, there will be three matches, providing punters with plenty of group stage wagering opportunities with competitive odds.

World Cup Final Predictions

The semi-finals should no longer be sensational, with Argentina and France in the final. These favourites have already proved that they know how to handle the tension. Argentina made a lot of porridge for itself by losing the first match of the championship to Saudi Arabia and already had to play the group matches as if they were the last. Such matches toughen up the teams and if Argentina loses the semi-final, there will be no shame in going back to their home country, so there should be less pressure on Argentina, which would allow them to show their full potential on the football pitch. The other finalist will be France, who have looked good throughout the championship. Against England, this team also survived a nervous match and when England equalised, there was no let-up from the French.

Argentina – Croatia prediction: Argentina win

Croatia are on the verge of reaching the World Cup finals. Only Germany, the Netherlands and Italy have done it before. After a poor start against Morocco, this team is playing excellent football.

Their goalkeeper, Dominyk Livakovic, has saved them so many times and he will have to work hard again in this match. The goalkeeper is playing brilliantly and is a great keeper. Josko Guardiola is also an important part of the team and he is one of the best defenders in the competition.

Argentina last won the World Cup in 1986. They narrowly missed out in 2014, when they lost to Germany in extra time. The team is led by Lionel Messi, who is arguably the best player of all time and for whom this is the last World Cup.

L. Messi was in the team for Argentina’s last match against Croatia at the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The match ended 3-0 in favour of Croatia. Argentina will want to avenge that defeat four years ago.

The importance of the match is huge. Neither of these two teams will want to take any risks, so I think there will not be many goals. This could be Messi’s last chance to lead Argentina to World Cup glory. Croatia will need much more than good defenders and a goalkeeper to win the game.

France – Morocco prediction: a French victory

The French proved that they are not going home in their last round against England, winning by a narrow 2-1. But it was certainly dramatic, and things could easily have gone the other way.

They took the lead in the 17th minute against Tchouameni, but the English did not hold back and then managed to come back in the 54th minute after a penalty from Kane.

The French responded shortly afterwards with another goal through Giroud and then in the 84th minute, the Three Lions had the chance to convert another penalty, but this time Kane was not up to the task, denying his country the chance to fight for the long-awaited World Cup trophy.

Morocco made history in its last appearance in Qatar against favourite Portugal by becoming the first African country to reach the semi-finals, beating the European powerhouse by a narrow 1-0 scoreline.

In this clash, they scored the only goal at the end of the first half through En Nesyri, but in the follow-up they held their ground and managed to withstand the pressure, proving once again that they are not undeservedly regarded by the bookmakers as the underdogs in the tournament.

Morocco are once again going into this encounter as a heavily underrated side, but this time they are unlikely to produce another surprise.

Their defensive line is paralysed due to the heroic resistance in the previous match, so it is almost impossible to imagine that they will keep up with the French in this state.

The European team has an almost perfect offensive disposition and, at least in my opinion, it is only a matter of time before they break their opponents and turn this encounter in the only logical direction.

Group A includes Netherlands, Senegal, Qatar and Ecuador. As the host, Qatar will make a World Cup debut, playing against Ecuador on November 21st. With 33 goals, Hassan Al-Haydos has played a total of 161 games for Qatar. In 2019, Hassan helped his team to lift the AFC Asian Cup. 

With Hassan Al-Haydos in excellent form and available to play, Qatar is expected to win the first match against Ecuador, the lowest-ranked team in South America. However, the game and predictions for 2022 World Cup this game will not be an easy one for Qatar since Ecuador will have some familiar names like Enner Valencia, who is the top striker.

Senegal is the current African Cup of Nations champion. They have two of the top players not only in Africa but also in the English Premier League and the world at large (read this – betting on goals English football), FC Bayern Munich’s striker Sadio Mane, Chelsea’s number one goalkeeper Edouard Mendy and defender Kalidou Koulibaly.

After failing to qualify for the 2018 World Cup competition, the Netherlands team is reloaded and considered the World Cup Group A favourite. With Barcelona’s Memphis Depay up top, Liverpool’s captain Virgil Van Dijk in the defence, PSG’s Georginio Winnaldum and Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong in midfield, the Netherlands are with no doubt the favourites.

Group B is made up of Iran, Wales, England and USA. England has been strengthening its team towards the 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament after making the final of the 2021 Euro last summer and the semi-finals in 2018.

The current manager Gareth Southgate has the England team back among the world’s best with a group of young and talented players. With a total of 49 international goals, Tottenham’s striker Harry Kane could be looking forward to overtaking Wayne Rooney’s record of 53 before the end of this tournament.

Iran is considered a perennial power in the federation of Asia; therefore, you should not overlook it. Having qualified for the 3rd consecutive competition and wasn’t lucky to advance in the 2014 and 2018 World Cup tournaments. So our 2022 World Cup predictions that Iran can pull a surprise in this group.

The United States 2022 World Cup team is considered one of the most talented ever after not qualifying in 2018. Juventus’s Weston McKennie and Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic are some of the USA’s top players who have gained European experience.

Wales is also another competitive team in this group. In the past few international games, Wales has proven to be a team to watch, especially after defeating Ukraine and Australia in the playoffs.

Poland, Mexico, Saudi Arabia and Argentina are in this group. With Lionel Messi, one of the top-rated strikers in the world, Argentina is the favourite to win the World Cup Group C. Argentine were the champions back in 1986 and 1978 and currently, they are undefeated in 31 international matches. On top of that, the team is coming off its first Copa America tournament since 1993.

The current system massively favours Lionel Messi, who has been in excellent scoring form in the previous international games. That means punters and fans should expect more goals from him.

Poland defeated Sweden in the playoffs to qualify for the 2022 World Cup tournament, thanks to Robert Lewandowski’s excellent form. Mexico has reached the World Cup knockout stage in 7 consecutive competitions and has some important players in its team, including Hirving Lozano, Jesus Corona and Raul Jimenez.

Group D consists of Tunisia, Denmark, Australia and France. The 2021 Euro tournament saw Denmark qualify to the semi-finals, with the team building on that with an excellent 2022 World Cup qualification campaign. With its form, Denmark is sure to join France in the round of 16 after qualifying for the last four in Euro 2021.

The defending champions, France, need to overcome the curse of the Middle East. Since winning the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, the team has been highly inconsistent.

However, our 2022 FIFA World Cup predictions that this team to breeze through this World Cup 2022 groups stage with Real Madrid’s striker Karim Benzema, PSG’s winger Kylian Mbappe and Chelsea’s Midfield N’golo Kante.

Regularly among the leading African teams, Tunisia includes several players based in top European leagues. In 2018, Tunisia went toe-to-toe with Gareth Southgate’s team, only to lose the game in stoppage time. Even after defeating Peru and UAE through penalty shoot-outs, Australia isn’t in good form.

Group E consists of Japan, Germany, Costa Rica and Spain. Luis Enrique has managed to rejuvenate the Spain national team after a dismal World Cup campaign in 2018.

Another team that is in the middle of a generational shift is Germany. However, this team remains a massive threat in this competition. The second game between Spain and Germany may decide the winner of this group.

In two of the three previous World Cup tournaments, Japan has competed in the knockout stage. The defender Takehiro Tomiyasu and midfielder Minamino are among the top players in the team.

In 2018, Costa Rica didn’t reach the round of 16 as it finished last in its World Cup group. Costa Rica’s forward Joel Campbell performs excellently in huge games, while Keylor Navas is one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

So World Cup Group E predictions that Costa Rica and Japan will be fighting to proceed to the next stage, the favourites to progress are Spain and Germany.

Morocco, Croatia, Canada and Belgium will play against each other in the 2022 World Cup Group F. This year’s World Cup is a do-or-die competition for Belgium that currently features the best players in history.

Some may view Croatia, the 2018 finalists, as the top competitor to win this group and Belgium to progress to the round of 16.  However, the Canadian team consists of young, talented and the most difficult players to play against, having performed excellently in CONCACAF.

Morocco boasts some of the top-rated players in the world of football, including Chelsea’s Hakim Ziyech and PSG’s Achraf Hakimi. However, the African team did not win any match in the 2018 World Cup tournament.

Cameroon, Brazil, Switzerland and Serbia are the members of the 2022 World Cup group G. Brazil is considered the favourite to win the trophy which it won in 2002. Familiar names like Real Madrid’s Casemiro, Chelsea’s Thiago Silver, and PSG’s Neymar create a group of talented players.

When it comes to Serbia, the team has one of the best front lines in the world with Luka Jovic and Aleksandar Mitrovic. These players are ready to terrorise defences and help their team to proceed to the next level of the tournament.

Switzerland reached the 2018 World Cup knockout stage, and it will be looking forward to performing excellently to reach the semi-finals or even finals. Since 2002, Cameroon has lost seven World Cup games, making it the underdog in Group G.

The 2022 World Cup Group H features Ghana, South Korea, Uruguay and Portugal. This tournament will likely offer the final opportunity for Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo to lead his team to its first World Cup title in the country’s history. Portugal will be making its 8th appearance in the 2022 FIFA World Cup. 

Cristiano helped Portugal to list the 2016 Euro trophy and will enter the tournament as the all-time top scorer globally, having scored a total of 117 goals for his team.

Currently, Ronaldo has more support than in his last World Cup appearances, with Bernardo Silva and Bruno Fernandes developing into the most creative midfielders globally.

Ghana did not compete in the 2018 World Cup tournament. However, it has proven to be one of the best teams in the world, having reached the knockout stage in 2010 and 2006.

The midfielder Thomas Partey will be hoping to boost his team and ensure it qualifies for the next stages of the competition.

When it comes to Uruguay, the midfield is much enhanced, with Federico Valverde and Rodrigo Betancur playing regularly for top European clubs.

For South Korea, Son Heung-Min, who plays for Tottenham, is among the top players in the EPL. However, his team may not manage to grab the first or second position in this group.
