UFC Fight Night Predictions: Gamrot vs Salkilld (08-08-2026)

UFC Fight Night 284 takes place at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas on August 8, with Mateusz Gamrot facing Quillan Salkilld in the lightweight main event.

The card also features Amanda Lemos against Alexia Thainara, a lightweight meeting between Diego Ferreira and Billy Quarantillo, and the welterweight bout between Ty Miller and Billy Goff.

The strongest overall pick comes from the main event, where Salkilld’s physical advantages and takedown defence give him a realistic chance of neutralising Gamrot’s main weapon.

Three additional predictions cover Ferreira’s experience and grappling, the finishing potential between Miller and Goff, and Thainara’s more complete route to victory against Lemos.

Mateusz Gamrot vs Quillan Salkilld

Salkilld will have a clear size advantage.

He stands 6’0″ with a 75-inch reach, compared to Gamrot at 5’10” with a 70-inch reach.

That difference should help the Australian control the distance and punish Gamrot when he moves forward to initiate his wrestling.

The statistical matchup is also encouraging.

Salkilld lands 5.01 significant strikes per minute with 57% accuracy and has defended 90% of the takedowns attempted against him.

Gamrot averages 5.22 successful takedowns per 15 minutes, so Salkilld’s ability to remain standing will be central to the result.

Salkilld has won all five of his UFC fights, with four of those victories ending in the first round.

His current run includes a head-kick knockout of Nasrat Haqparast, a submission against Jamie Mullarkey and a stoppage of Beneil Dariush.

Those results provide far more evidence than an unbeaten record built against inexperienced opposition.

Gamrot remains the most experienced and tactically difficult opponent of Salkilld’s career.

Defending the first takedown is often not enough against the Polish fighter, who repeatedly changes position and starts another attempt when an opponent reaches the fence.

He can also maintain that approach across five rounds.

Salkilld is therefore not a risk-free favourite. His striking defence stands at only 45%, and Dariush briefly found success before being stopped.

However, Gamrot is unlikely to win extended striking exchanges at range.

Salkilld’s speed, reach and ability to produce damaging moments give him the advantage whenever the fight remains standing.

Backing Salkilld to win is preferable to choosing a specific method.

He has several ways to take over the fight, while Gamrot’s durability and experience make an early finish difficult to rely on.

Diego Ferreira vs Billy Quarantillo

Prediction

Quarantillo’s high-output style guarantees activity but also leaves him exposed.

He lands 7.44 significant strikes per minute while absorbing 5.83, and his significant-strike defence is only 42%.

Ferreira absorbs 3.46 per minute with 55% defence and will have a four-inch reach advantage.

The difference on the ground is another important factor.

Ferreira has recorded seven professional submission victories and is comfortable attacking from several positions.

Quarantillo’s pressure can give him the initiative, but it also creates opportunities for Ferreira to counter, clinch and move the contest away from prolonged striking exchanges.

Quarantillo has not competed since December 2024. His last two appearances ended in defeats against Youssef Zalal and Cub Swanson, with Swanson stopping him in the third round.

A long absence is particularly relevant for a fighter whose success depends heavily on pace and repeated exchanges.

Ferreira carries his own concerns. He has lost consecutive fights, including a second-round stoppage against Alexander Hernandez in September 2025.

Quarantillo’s pressure could become increasingly difficult to handle if Ferreira is forced to work at a high tempo for all three rounds.

Those risks make a Ferreira stoppage unnecessarily aggressive.

The standard moneyline allows him to use his cleaner defence, longer reach and grappling without requiring him to finish an opponent known for continuing through difficult exchanges.

Ty Miller vs Billy Goff

Prediction

Goff’s fights rarely develop into slow striking contests.

Seven of his nine professional victories have come by knockout, including four first-round finishes.

He lands 7.51 significant strikes per minute but absorbs 5.02, creating the type of two-way exchanges that can end a fight quickly.

His most recent UFC appearance followed the same pattern.

Goff pushed forward against Ramiz Brahimaj but was caught in a guillotine and submitted in the first round.

His offence makes him dangerous, although the same aggression regularly leaves openings for his opponent.

Miller is four inches taller and owns a five-inch reach advantage.

He used that range effectively in his UFC debut against Adam Fugitt, landing 59 significant strikes before securing the stoppage at 4:59 of the opening round.

Goff’s pressure should give Miller opportunities to intercept him with straight punches and knees as he closes the distance.

Miller remains relatively inexperienced at UFC level, however, and Goff has enough power and output to punish mistakes from the favourite.

There is a reasonable argument for the fight lasting longer.

Four of Miller’s seven professional wins have come by decision, and he completed all three rounds during his successful appearance on Dana White’s Contender Series.

He has already shown that he can remain patient rather than forcing a finish.

The under is therefore based on the interaction between the two styles rather than Miller’s UFC debut alone.

Goff’s output, defensive openings and finishing record make a result inside two and a half rounds more likely than his opponent’s decision-heavy record initially suggests.

Amanda Lemos vs Alexia Thainara

Prediction
18+ Be GambleAware T&Cs apply

Thainara enters with a 14-1 professional record and three consecutive UFC victories.

She submitted Molly McCann in the first round before earning decisions over Loma Lookboonmee and Bruna Brasil.

Her UFC statistics show a fighter capable of controlling more than one phase of the contest.

Thainara lands 4.62 significant strikes per minute with 59% striking defence.

She also averages 4.54 takedowns per 15 minutes, completes 57% of her attempts and has so far defended every takedown attempted against her.

That wrestling activity could make this a difficult matchup for Lemos.

Thainara can repeatedly force her towards the fence, work from top position and reduce the amount of time Lemos has to establish her striking range.

Lemos lands only 2.75 significant strikes per minute and has a defensive rate of 45%, but those numbers do not fully reflect her danger.

The former title challenger has eight knockout victories and remains capable of changing a fight with one clean connection.

That power is the main reason Thainara cannot be treated as completely safe.

She is facing the most dangerous striker of her UFC career, and an unsuccessful takedown attempt could leave her exposed during the transition back to her feet.

Thainara nevertheless has more dependable ways to win.

She can score with volume at range, control Lemos against the fence or build substantial periods of top control.

Lemos is more reliant on producing the most damaging moment of the fight, while Thainara can collect rounds even without finding a finish.
