Formula 1 heads to Monza from September 4 to 6 for Round 13 of the 2026 season and the Italian Grand Prix.

Kimi Antonelli arrives at his home race leading the Drivers’ Championship with 242 points. George Russell and Lewis Hamilton are tied on 183, followed by Lando Norris on 159 and Charles Leclerc on 155.

Monza presents a very different challenge to Zandvoort.

Mercedes have set the standard over one lap throughout the 2026 season.

The team have secured 10 pole positions from the opening 12 Grands Prix, with Antonelli taking six and Russell four. Only two main qualifying sessions have therefore ended with another team at the top.

Even when Mercedes missed out at Zandvoort, the margins were extremely small. Russell qualified just 0.102 seconds behind Norris, while Antonelli was only 0.133 seconds away from the fastest time.

Monza should also provide a suitable test for the Mercedes package.

That change will result in a grid penalty for the championship leader, but it does not prevent him from setting the quickest time in qualifying.

The penalty is applied to his starting position rather than removing his qualifying performance, leaving both Mercedes drivers in contention for this market.

With Mercedes responsible for 10 of the first 12 Grand Prix poles, 2.10 is a strong price for the team to return to the top of qualifying at Monza.

His performance at Zandvoort was another positive sign. Russell won the Sprint and then qualified on the front row for the Grand Prix before finishing third on Sunday.

The result completed a weekend in which he was competitive in every major session.

Norris is the clear danger. The McLaren driver arrives in Italy after winning at Zandvoort and has recently reduced Mercedes’ earlier advantage at the front.

Russell therefore needs to be judged against a rival currently operating at a very high level rather than simply on Mercedes’ strong season statistics.

The difference in price makes Russell interesting.

A driver with two Grand Prix victories and six podiums this season is available at 3.25, while Mercedes have already shown that their race pace is capable of delivering wins on a regular basis.

At the current odds, the combination of his recent form, Mercedes’ overall competitiveness and a strong Zandvoort weekend gives him enough upside at a noticeably bigger price than Norris.

Hamilton to finish inside the top three at 1.72 is the more conservative selection of the three.

The Ferrari driver has five Grand Prix podiums from the opening 12 rounds.

He has also finished every Grand Prix this season and has not placed outside the top 10, giving this selection a strong consistency angle rather than relying on a single exceptional result.

Another podium was within reach at Zandvoort. Hamilton finished fourth, only 0.849 seconds behind Russell in third, while Leclerc followed in fifth.

Ferrari therefore left the Netherlands with both cars immediately behind the podium positions.

Ferrari’s wider record also supports the bet.

The team sit second in the Constructors’ Championship with 338 points and have recorded two Grand Prix victories and nine podium finishes through the first 12 rounds.

Hamilton also has an outstanding record at Monza, having won the Italian Grand Prix five times.

That history is not enough on its own to justify a bet in 2026, but experience at a circuit with unusually low-downforce demands is a useful addition to the much stronger evidence provided by his current-season results.

Five podiums from 12 Grands Prix, no retirements and another fourth-place finish last time out give Hamilton a solid statistical base for this market.

At 1.72, a Hamilton podium offers the lower-risk option alongside the higher-priced Mercedes qualifying and Russell race-winner selections.
