Poland Olympic Medals Predictions: Total Over/Under

Poland enjoyed their best OIympics haul of the century in Tokyo, returning home with 14 medals from the Japanese capital in 2021. How will they fare at the 2024 Olympics?

🏰 Prediction: Total OVER 14.5 @ 1.94

Bookmakers are offering a tasty over/under market of 14.5 medals for Poland this year. We analyze the country’s medal prospects, and deliver our verdict of whether or not betting on this market is a wise move.

We expect the Polish team to have another strong Olympics showing. Our Olympic 2024 medal preview for Poland has them covering the spread and winning somewhere between 15 to 17 medals in France.

Here’s a look at where we believe these will come from:

  • Hammer throw: The weight of Poland’s gold medal dreams rests on the shoulders of Wojciech Nowicki.

The seasoned campaigner boasts a medal collection most athletes dream of. Since his 2015 World Championship bronze, Nowicki has added Olympic gold and multiple World Championship silvers to his cabinet. His experience could be a key weapon in his quest for Parisian gold.

Anita Włodarczyk and Paweł Fajdek are also expected to secure podium finishes in hammer throwing.

  • Volleyball: Both the Polish men’s and women’s volleyball team will arrive in Paris with medal ambitions.

Poland have been one of the powerhouses in international volleyball for years, but their Olympic returns have been surprisingly lacking. They are currently the number one men’s team and occupy the third spot in the women’s game as well.

However, they have won the Olympic gold only once, when the men’s team pulled it off in the 1976 games. The women’s team have only two bronze medals to show for their Olympic adventures. Both sides will be eager to rewrite the script in Paris.

  • Swimming: Katarzyna Wasick will be hoping to end her Olympics drought at the Paris La Defense Arena. The Polish national record holder won 50m freestyle silver medals in the World Championships and European Championships in 2022.
  • Shooting: Two time European champion Klaudia Bres will also look to end her wait for an Olympic medal in Paris.

Statistics point to athletics and kayaking as Poland’s top medal hopes outside of the areas above, which should help take their tally over 14.5 medals total.

Other than these usual suspects, we must not rule out the possibility of underdog medal wins as well. There were a few surprises in Tokyo and Atlanta for the Polish contingent. After all, the Olympics stage is where legends are born, and perhaps Paris will witness the rise of a new hero or two for Poland.

Poland Looking to Build on Strong Olympics Legacy

With only Hungary ahead of them among nations that haven’t hosted the Summer Games, Poland boasts a rich Olympic history. Polish athletes have captured an impressive 321 medals (79 gold, 96 silver, 146 bronze) across 19 summer and five winter sports.

The country’s standout Olympic campaign, however, came in 1976 at the Montreal Games. In that edition, Polish athletes won a staggering total of 26 medals – seven gold, six silver, and 13 bronze, propelling them to an impressive sixth place in the overall medal standings.

With their sights set on 15 medals, including four golds, Poland is aiming to repeat their best Olympic performance since Atlanta 1996. This ambitious target would also secure them a 17th place finish, replicating their Tokyo ranking.

Can they do so in Paris? We think they’re in with a good chance.
