UFC Fight Night Predictions: Themba Gorimbo – Ramiz Brahimaj (18-05-2024)

Fight Night: Barboza vs Murphy will occur on May 18th, 2024. As you can already understand, the main fight of the night will be between Brazilian Edson Barboza and Englishman Lerone Murphy. However, as usual, there will be many more encounters besides the main fight.

Twelve fights are scheduled, four of which will be between the women. The event will take place at the UFC Apex complex in Las Vegas, which has a capacity of around 1,000 spectators. 

Before the main fight of the evening, Themba Gorimbo from Zimbabwe and Ramiz Brahimaj from the USA will face each other. Themba Gorimbo is a 33-year-old fighter who made his UFC debut on 18 February 2023 when he lost to A.J. Fletcher.

His next two fights were against Takashi Sato and Pete Rodriguez. His last fight on 3 February 2024 was won in just 32 seconds by first-round technical knockout. 

Ramiz Brahimaj is a 31-year-old fighter who made his UFC debut on 7 November 2020, losing to Max Griffin. He won his next fight against Sasha Palatnikov, lost his next fight against Court McGee, and won his last fight on 26 February 2022 by choke against Micheal Gillmore. 

On UFC betting sites, Themba Gorimbo is the favourite because the American Brahimaj has not fought for more than two years. He is not old yet and can get in shape, but two years without a professional fight is a very long time.

Themba Gorimbo won his last two UFC fights, which is very important for his future career. At 33 years old, it is unclear how much longer he will be able to fight at the highest level. 

He does not lack motivation; in his last fight, he won by technical knockout, while the African usually wins by choke or judges’ decision. 

Both fighters know how to wrestle and have good wrestling skills. Interestingly, Ramiz Brahimaj has won all of his 10 fights by choke – if the fight went to a judge’s decision, he lost them all.

The elements of choking will not be easy to use against Themba Gorimbo, so there is much more value in picking the favourite of the fight.
