IEM Rio CS2 Prediction: FaZe – FURIA (07-10-2024)

The Counter-Strike 2 tournament Intel Extreme Masters Rio 2024 starts on 7 October. 16 teams will compete in Brazil for 250,000 USD.

The 16 teams are divided into two groups of 8, with 3 teams from each group advancing to the playoffs, which will be played in an arena with spectators – the winners of each group will go through to the semi-finals, while the second and third-place teams will play the quarter-finals.

The first group matches will be played in the BO1 (Best of One) format, and this time, we will look at the meeting between FaZe and FURIA.

As only one map will be played, teams must play well on Counter-Terrorist and Terrorist. In this case, FaZe is a much better-balanced team and, most importantly, has a wider choice of maps.

FURIA has started to play a bit better recently, but it is worth admitting that they are not in the best shape yet. However, for a team like this, playing against FaZe on a single map is much more favourable as the chance of winning increases.

FURIA will be one of the most motivated teams at IEM Rio 2024, as it will be a home tournament, and they will be eager to play in front of their home crowd.

However, motivation alone may not be enough – FaZe showed signs of recovery at the last tournament, winning 2-1 over Falcons, thrashing Liquid 2-0, and losing a close 1-2 game to NaVi in the semi-finals.

The FaZe – FURIA match is very important because if you lose, you can’t make any more mistakes – you will need to win three games in a row to qualify for the playoffs as the third team in the group.

Although FaZe’s results in recent tournaments have been disappointing, we are going for experience in this case. FaZe has a deeper map pool, which should lead to victory in this match.
