IEM Rio CS2 Prediction: Eternal Fire – Astralis (07-10-2024)
Another Counter-Strike 2 tournament, Intel Extreme Masters Rio 2024, starts on 7 October. Sixteen CS2 teams will compete in Brazil, split into two groups of eight. The first matches will be played in BO1 (Best of One) format, so the importance of the match is enormous.
In the event of a loss, three consecutive matches must be won to reach the playoffs. As the format is particularly favourable to the outsiders, there are bound to be many surprises in the first few games. Let’s look at the meeting between Eternal Fire and Astralis.
🔫 Match prediction: Total rounds OVER 21.5 @ 1.90 |
Eternal Fire surprised everyone with a great performance in ESL Pro League Season 20. They not only beat Vitality but also reached the finals, where they lost to NaVi 2:3.
This tournament has given the Turkish team a lot of confidence, and it will be very interesting to see if this break of a few weeks will shake their confidence and help them maintain their good form.

Eternal Fire’s first opponent in the tournament is Astralis. The Danish organisation has just gone through a change, with cadiaN joining the team to replace br0. This player will also take over the role of IGL (In-Game leader).
Astralis and cadiaN have already made their debut in the BLAST Premier Fall Final 2024, where they lost 0:2 to Vitality and 1:2 to Spirit.
Astralis will have much more time to prepare for the IEM Rio 2024, as the change comes a week before the tournament in Copenhagen. However, as little information is available on how Astralis will play, this may not be a favourable opponent for Eternal Fire.
Casper “cadiaN” Møller hasn’t had time to make many changes with only two games played so far. In the lead-up to the tournament, Astralis will definitely spend a lot of time training and trying to impress Eternal Fire.
With only one map to be played, it will likely be Inferno or Dust2. Neither team should be crushed; both can win, so we are going for at least 22 rounds.
