EuroBasket 2025 Prediction: Finland – Lithuania (01-09-2025)
The Lithuanian men’s national basketball team played three games at EuroBasket 2025, winning two and losing one. The Lithuanians won their first game 94-70 against Great Britain and set a new national record for rebounds in that game. In the second game, they crushed Montenegro 94:67, setting a new record for assists.
🏀 Prediction: Finland – Lithuania total OVER 170.5 @ 1.90
The third EuroBasket game against Germany ended on a completely different note, with Lithuania losing 88:107. Finland played two games in the tournament – in the first, they beat Sweden 93:90, and in the second, they defeated Great Britain 109:79.
Before the game against Lithuania, the hosts Finland will play against Montenegro. If Finland wins, the game against Lithuania will potentially be for second place in the group. The hosts will certainly not lack motivation, as for the first time in this tournament, they will not be the favorites, but the underdogs. Lithuania and Finland have never played an official match against each other – all previous meetings have been friendly matches.
Although the Lithuanians are considered favorites in Monday’s upcoming game, it could potentially be one of the most interesting matches in Group B in this tournament. And the stakes are high – the losing team will likely face Turkey in the round of 16, while the winner will most likely face the hosts, Latvia, if they finish third in Group A.

Finland beat Sweden by just three points in their first game, but it must be said that their performance was not their best. Sweden also played above their capabilities, making several difficult shots that prevented Finland from pulling away.
Finland played in front of their fans, it was the opening game, and there was excitement – all of this came together, and most importantly, they managed to achieve victory. We witnessed a completely different level of relaxation in the second game against Great Britain, in which Lauri Markkanen showcased his actual abilities, scoring 43 points.
L. Markkanen and Sasu Salin each scored seven three-pointers, and the whole team scored 18 out of 36. The Lithuanians dominated the first two games, but they didn’t stand a chance against the Germans. They were unsuccessful in both defense and offense, making a total of 18 mistakes.
It will be much easier to attack the Finns than the Germans, but defending will certainly not be any easier. The main reason for this is that the Finns play with a small five, with Lauri Markkanen and Mikael Jantunen forming the front line.
All five players can shoot three-pointers, making it extremely difficult for Lithuania, with Jonas Valančiūnas or Laurynas Birutis, to defend. There is a high probability that we will often see a small lineup, which will further accelerate the game’s pace.
Both teams are offense-oriented and capable of scoring more than 90 points, so a total of 171 points is definitely achievable. Lithuania did as they pleased against the defenses of Montenegro and Great Britain, and a similar situation should prevail with the Finns.
