Australia Olympic Medals Predictions: Total Over/Under

With the 2024 Olympics fast approaching, anticipation is building for the world’s biggest sporting spectacle.

🦘 Prediction: Total OVER 47.5 @ 1.75

Australia, a powerhouse in the Olympic arena, will be looking to build upon its impressive 46-medal performance in Tokyo. Here’s a closer look at Australia’s potential for podium success across various disciplines.

Australian athletes are gearing up for a potentially golden Olympic Games in Paris.

Leading sports data analysts predict a 49-medal haul for the green and gold team, nearly matching their historic performance in Athens 2004. Most projections are predicting 12 gold medals, with swimming leading the charge by contributing seven.

This projected tally could see Australia secure a strong sixth-place finish on the medals table, following powerhouses like the United States, China, Great Britain, France, and Japan.

According to our analysis, however, we believe the Aussies can do one better and finish their Olympic 2024 campaign with 50 medals. Here’s a breakdown of where we expect these medals to come from:

  • BMX Freestyle: Australia has a strong tradition in this discipline and should find itself on the podium. Logan Martin is expected to score a gold for the Aussies here.
  • Sailing: Australia has a rich history in sailing and will be looking to maintain its dominance. Matthew Wearn comes in as one of the hottest gold medal prospects for Australia.
  • Canoeing: Jessica Fox, the reigning queen of canoe slalom, is a strong gold medal contender – we’re picking she’ll come away with two in Paris.
  • Athletics: Track and field events are another area where Australia can expect to contend for medals, with plenty of strong options to podium.
  • Diving: Australia has a strong diving program and could add to its medal tally here. Tokyo 2020 bronze medalist Melissa Wu is set to make history at the Paris Olympics. Not only will she lead the largest Australian diving squad to compete at the Games since 2012, but she will also become the first Australian diver ever to participate in five Olympics.
  • Rowing: The Aussies have a knack for success in rowing and will be aiming for podium finishes. Australia bagged two gold medals and two bronzes in rowing at the Tokyo Olympics.
  • Cycling: Both road cycling and track cycling offer opportunities for Australian athletes to shine. The Australian cycling team, however, will undoubtedly feel the absence of Rohan Dennis, who was their lone medalist in Tokyo.
  • Skateboarding: Skateboarding’s Olympic debut in Tokyo saw Australian success, and this trend could continue. Keegan Palmer will be eyeing successive golds in the men’s park skateboarding discipline. Gold Coast prodigy Arisa Trew is also a solid contender, having emerged as one of the exciting talents of the sport.
  • Rugby Sevens: Having finished second and fourth in the 2024 Women’s and Men’s HSBC Rugby Sevens tables, respectively, rugby sevens holds high potential for Australia to boost its medals tally.

To top it off, we expect swimming to be a goldmine for Australia. Look out for familiar faces like Kaylee McKeown, Cameron McEvoy, and Ariarne Titmus, who will be aiming to replicate their Tokyo heroics.

It’s safe to say Australia boasts podium potential in a diverse range of sports, so backing them to exceed the 47.5 medal mark is an excellent bet.
