EuroBasket 2025 Prediction: Lithuania – Greece (09-09-2025)
Greece arrived at EuroBasket 2025 with no secret about its ambitions. Giannis Antetokounmpo’s team can boast some solid supporting players this year. The NBA star is surrounded by players such as Tyler Dorsey, Kostas Papanikolaou, Kostas Sloukas, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Konstantinos Mitoglou. There are enough veterans on the team for the country to compete for medals.
🏀 Prediction: Greece -5.5 Handicap @1.90
In the group stage, Greece lost to Bosnia, but played without Giannis Antetokounmpo, who was given extra rest. In the round of 16, they defeated Israel, and although they won by a 5-point margin, the score does not reflect the true picture – the Greeks controlled most of the game and only allowed their opponents to catch up at the end. G. Antetokounmpo played an impressive game, scoring 37 points.
In the group stage against Finland, the Lithuanian national team lost Rokas Jokubaitis, a key player, due to injury. Arnas Velička played an excellent game against Latvia. Still, it must be acknowledged that the defender has not yet proven himself to be a stable player, and it will be very interesting to see how he performs in the quarterfinals against Greece.
A. Velička can be described as courageous, defiant of authority, and extremely confident in his abilities. Still, if he is not performing well in a game, he may make more mistakes than effective passes. The Greek defense will be significantly better than Latvia’s, making it much more difficult for the Lithuanians to organize the game.
Lithuania has reached the EuroBasket quarterfinals after a 10-year hiatus. For this team, reaching the semifinals would be more than anyone could have hoped for.
Without R. Jokubaitis, defeating Greece seems extremely difficult, but betting sites are still giving Lithuania a fairly good chance. A 6-point lead is too small, considering that Greece will be Lithuania’s most serious opponent since the group stage match against Germany.

Although Lithuania managed to defeat Latvia, it is worth noting that Latvia did not play well. They missed three-point shots, and the team was carried by Kristaps Porzingis, whom the Lithuanians were unable to defend against – the Latvian scored 34 points. If they couldn’t stop K. Porzingis, it’s a big question how they will stop G. Antetokounmpo.
The Lithuanians defeated the Latvians without scoring any three-pointers. They scored 6 out of 18 three-pointers during the entire game. A. Velička scored three of them in the first quarter, which means that the entire team scored only 3 three-pointers during the rest of the game.
With such shooting, Lithuania should not expect to make it to the semifinals. There are certainly players who can shoot, but the question remains whether the Lithuanians will play at least one game in which they will have good shooting from a distance.
Both teams have good defensive players, so G. Antetokounmpo will likely be double-teamed, and the Greeks’ play will depend on his teammates.
The Greeks shot amazingly well against Spain, but very poorly against Israel – 4 three-pointers out of 25. It’s hard to believe that the Greeks will shoot so poorly from long range in two games in a row, so we’re expecting Greece to reach the semifinals and win by at least six points.
