The first semi-final of EURO 2024 will be played between Spain and France on 9 July. If the French were already considered one of the favourites before the tournament, the Spanish can be considered one of the surprises, with a youth-driven squad that is playing its best game in the tournament.
Spain advanced to the semi-finals after beating the hosts Germany in extra time. Mikel Merino scored the winning goal on 119 minutes.
Meanwhile, France will play in the semi-finals after a successful series of 11-metre penalties against Portugal. The match ended 0-0, with France qualifying for the quarters without scoring a single goal. The game is far from encouraging, but the title is just two wins away.

The quarter-final between Spain and Germany was billed as the final of the tournament. This is not to be disagreed with, as both the best teams were playing and the match itself was a really volatile one, creating tension on the EURO 2024 bookmakers‘ websites.
While France and England are moving forward step by step, the Spanish drew against the Germans for the first time, having won all four games before that.
If Georgia was not the strongest opponent in the 8-finals, they still played a great game against the Germans, and most importantly, Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal were all showing a good level.
It is worth noting that two defenders, Dani Carvajal and Robin Le Normand, will not play against the French due to cards. Pedri was injured against the Germans and will also not play in the semi-final.
France has a lot of talent, but this has not yet translated into the game on the pitch. With players like Ousmane Dembele, Kylian Mbappe, Antoine Griezmann, Marcus Thuram, and others, they have not been able to score yet.
Of course, they can score any time, but they might as well not show up. Spain has not yet disappointed in this tournament and has everything it needs to reach the final and win the whole tournament.
