CS2 Predictions: PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 Favorites and Odds

The 2024 Counter-Strike 2 season is in full swing, with the first Major in Copenhagen less than a week away. CS2 predictions ignite discussions, highlighting the Majors’ significance as the premier events in Counter-Strike, occurring twice a year.

Only last year, there was one Major in Paris, which was won by Vitality, as it was a transition year from Counter-Strike: Global Offensive to CS2. The first Counter-Strike 2 Major will start in Copenhagen on March 17. In this guide, we’ll look at the five teams with the best chance of becoming champions.

Spirit has played in and won one high-level tournament with its current line-up. For the 17-year-old donk, it was his first LAN tournament at this level, his first time playing in front of an arena audience, and it didn’t stop him from becoming MVP.

Chopper and magixx have been together for almost five years, while donk and zont1x joined eight months ago and sh1ro just two months ago. Chopper is the most experienced player on the team, having played in seven Majors and finishing 3-4 with Spirit in 2022, when magixx was also on the team.

With this line-up, Spirit played against almost all the top teams. They beat FaZe 3-0 in the final of IEM Katowice 2024 and lost only one map in the tournament. Spirit has only lost once this season, a 0-2 defeat against MOUZ in the Major qualifier. In the same period, they had 13 wins.

Everyone is looking forward to the Spirit’s match against Vitality, which was the best team last year and has the best player, ZywOo.

It seems that only FaZe and Vitality can challenge them, although FaZe has lost the last two times. In CS, teams often dominate in certain periods, and it seems that the Spirit time is now. The weakest part of the team at the moment is the newcomer mezii, who joined four months ago. The instability of mezii and flameZ may be one of the reasons for the poorer play.

Still, overall the team has a great system, the best player in the world at the moment, and must be considered one of the favourites to win the Copenhagen tournament.

FaZe has been the most consistent team in the last few years. Four players have been playing together for more than two years, three players for three years. The only newcomer in the off-season who replaced Twistzz was frozen.

However, frozen has played with ropz and karrigan in the MOUZ team, so he is not a stranger either. With these changes, FaZe reached the final of IEM Katowice, which once again confirms the potential and longevity of this team.

There is a lot of talk about the fact that karrigan is already 33 years old and rain is 29, but players with such experience play well at the most critical moments.

Havard „rain“ Nygaard has played in 16 Major tournaments, winning one, finishing second once, and finishing 3-4 once. karrigan has played in 17 Majors but has only won once. Robin „ropz“ Kool was voted 3rd best player last season, broky 10th and frozen 12th.

However, even though the game is not the prettiest to the eye, the team achieves solid results. Four of the current five players won a Major in Brazil a year and a half ago, so Virtus.pro should not be underestimated.

May will mark two years of Jame, FL1T, fame, and n0rb3r7 playing together. Nikolay “mir “Mityukov joined a little over half a year ago and has so far been identified as the weakest link in the team. If the results of the Major will not be satisfying, it would not be surprising if a replacement is sought for him.

Virtus.pro is not one of the main favorites. They don’t have the individual strengths of the other major teams, but they play together as a team, which is their strength.

G2 has been playing together for a long time, and NiKo’s good friend nexa arrived in the off-season, but the team’s results are very poor.

G2 made it through the qualifiers for the Majors confidently, winning all three games and playing solidly against FaZe, but apart from this qualifier, the team has nothing else to boast about this season.

They have not played much and have had a lot of time to train, but it is noteworthy that G2 relies on the talent of individual players. Last season, NiKo was the second-best player of the year and m0NESY the fourth.

The duo of these two hold the whole team on their shoulders. Nemanja “huNter-“Kovač came 13th in the awards, which is also a solid result.

If it were a short, multi-match tournament, G2 would be the clear favorite. On a good day, with so much talent, they can beat any team. However, reaching the quarter-finals will be quite a task, and they’ll have to beat at least three top-level teams in the playoffs.

G2 has a chance if the draw is favorable and the main favorites are avoided before the crucial battles. This team can certainly play at a high level in the semi-finals or finals.
