Copa America Predictions: Uruguay – Brazil (06-07-2024)

The Copa America 2024 quarter-finals are about to start. Eight teams continue to fight for the title, and one of the quarter-final matches will be between Brazil, considered favourites before the tournament, and Uruguay, who have been singled out as the only team that can take on Brazil and Argentina.

Uruguay won all three games in Copa America 2024 Group C – 3-1 against Panama, 5-0 against Bolivia, and 1-0 against the USA. Meanwhile, Brazil finished second in the group with 0-0 against Costa Rica, 4-1 against Paraguay and 1-1 against Colombia.

There should be a lot of anxiety in the Brazilian camp. The squad is full of top-class players, with plenty of choice in every position, but the play on the pitch does not reflect the talent available.

Brazil has played in the last two Copa America finals, but both times, the tournament was held in Brazil, where they had the support of their home crowd. Before that, the last time Brazil played in a final was in 2007, and there is a good chance that this year’s final will be without Brazil again.

There are also lesser-known players and some veterans. Everyone seems to have their place, knows what to do, and, most importantly, plays with a winning attitude.

There is a lot of uncertainty on the Brazilian side. The attacking talent is not making the most of the chances that it is creating, and Vinicius Jr., a potential leader of the team, will not play against Uruguay, having received a second yellow card against Colombia.

Brazil has not shown anything in the group stage, and although they have a more talented squad, Uruguay currently looks better as a team. It is also worth noting that these teams met in a World Cup qualifier a year ago, and Uruguay won 2-0.
